Silent prayer
We have a small monthly meeting in Shannon for silent, contemplative, prayer. If you are interested, contact the minister.
Are you interested in creative writing? Writing for delight? For personal fulfillment? Already a published author? A new creative writing group is starting up in Shannon. The next meeting is on Friday 19 January at 6.30 pm in the library. This time we’ll be looking at poetry in translation, as well as each other’s work. All are welcome to bring their own writing.
Walking the Pilgrim Ways, Ar bhealach na Naomh. Thanks to all who joined us for the Clare Christian heritage walks this summer. These spiritual walks covered many of the ancient Christian sites in the country, often along traditional pilgrim routes. The input of people on the routes this year was very helpful for the future. They have resulted in articles, poetry and photographs. We are currently putting together plans for the summer, liasing with other groups and organisations. There will be a major ecumenical walk to Holy Island in Lough Derg on Saturday 26 May (Whitsun Eve) and further information will be available shortly. Meanwhile, see the Prayer walkingpage.
In Shannon, as well as the regular services we have a new Bible Study, and film nights. The last film, on 13 February was Of Gods and Men, which is based on the true story of seven monks killed in 1996 during warfare in Algeria. the next – film to be announced, is on Tuesday 13 March.
